CSS Design Study Report Summary Available for Review – Public Hearing on Jan. 9 2023

 

As part of the Municipality of Anchorage’s Context Sensitive Solutions for Transportation Project review process, a 35% Design Study Report (DSR) Summary for the Seward Hwy & Alyeska Hwy Intersection Improvements Project has been submitted for review by the Planning & Zoning Commission.

At the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting on December 5th, 2022, the Commission moved to hold a public hearing on the project Monday, January 9, 2023. To see the agenda, meeting packet and more, please go to the Municipality of Anchorage’s website.

Traffic Data Collection August 2021

 

Kinney Engineering staff will be in the project area to collect additional data for the Seward-Alyeska intersection project.

Data to be collected includes turning movement counts, queue observations, manual parking counts, and drone observations.

Traffic data collection locations include the Seward-Alyeska intersection, at/on Gold Avenue and Main Street, and at the Girdwood Station Mall parking lot.

AMATS Freight Advisory Committee Meeting – May 12th

 

The project team will present virtually to the AMATS Freight Advisory Committee on Wednesday, May 12th, on the preliminary concept alternatives for  the Alyeska Hwy and Seward Hwy Intersection project.  All AMATS meetings are open to the public.

Traffic Engineers on Site December 19-23

 

Kinney Engineer staff will be on site this weekend (December 19-20) and one day next week counting turning movements at the Alyeska & Seward Hwy intersection. This coincides with winter break for ASD and the commencement of skiing at Alyeska, providing a better understanding of turning movements during peak times.

Please be alert to their presence and drive safely.

Virtual Public Open House: December 10, 2020

 

The purpose of this project is to improve the safety, operation, and capacity of this intersection. At this early stage in the project’s development, the Department is seeking input on what values should drive the alternative selection process, what alternatives should be considered, what experiences you have had with this intersection, or any other input you may have.

Fall 2020 Fieldwork

 

Field crews will be active in the project area this fall conducting wetland delineations, survey work, and collecting traffic data.  R&M survey crews will be on site in October collecting topographic data.  This work will inform the development of alternatives and the environmental document.
